Introduction
The two movies are based on the story of the 2005 book “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo“. The author of the book was Swedish journalist and author Stig Larson, who died of a heart attack on November 9, 2004, the year before the book was released. After his death, three books of the famous “Millenium Trilogy” were published, the first part of which was this book. In 2009, Swedish director Nils Arden Oplev first made a movie based on the first part of the trilogy. The movie stars Michael Nickvist and Numi Lapes as the two main characters, Michael Blomqvist and Lisbeth Salander. The movie grossed about 104 million at the box office, with a budget of about 13 million. American director David Fincher later made a remake of the movie in 2011, which became even more popular than the Swedish version. The movie stars Michael Craig and Rooney Mara as Michael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander. The movie grossed about 262.7 million at the box office, with a budget of about 90 million.
Mikael_blumkvist
Michael Blomqvist is the main male character in the main story. He is basically an investigative journalist and co-owner of the monthly magazine Millennium. He was jailed for three months for his feud with billionaire Weinerstorm and later resigned as the newspaper’s board of directors. Industrialist Henrik Vanger later offered him a freelance assignment. In the Swedish version, Michael Nikvist played the role of Michael Blomkvist. Her performance in the movie was quite impressive. Nickvist fits pretty much everything with the character in the original book, except for one important point. That is age 6 Blomquist’s age seemed comparatively younger than the book’s character in the movie, which was somewhat eye-catching. From this point of view, Daniel Craig as David Fincher’s movie character was more perfect for the big screen. And in terms of chemistry, the Craig-Mara pair did a much better job than the Nikvist-Lapes pair.
Lisbeth_salander
Lisbeth Salander can be called the main and one of the most interesting characters in the movie He is a highly skilled and experienced computer hacker and researcher working for an organization called Milton Security. But he was antisocial and emotionally upset because of some unusual things that happened in his life. After getting a freelance job from Mikael Vanger, Lisbeth’s boss Dragan Armansky hired him as Mikael’s assistant. Numi Lapes played the Swedish version as Lisbeth Salander and Rooney Mara in the American version. It is very difficult to compare these characters in the two movies. Because Numi Lapes or Rooney Mara – no one’s performance can be said to be worse than others. However, in the Swedish movie, Salander’s childhood character is shown, where Tehila Blad plays. In both movies, the character of Lisbeth Salander emerges just like the story in the book. However, most of the viewers and critics of those who have seen both the movies have preferred Numi Lapes as the Lisbeth Calendar. Because according to most, there was a little bit of childishness in Mara’s face. As a result, the character of Lapus is more violent in the same way as the original story.
Nils_jurman
The American version was played by Yerik van Wageningen and the Suffice version was played by Peter Anderson. This sadist character was originally the Long Time Guardian of Lisbeth Salander, who had been sexually abusing Lisbeth for a long time. In both the movies, the home rape scene and the office blow job scene are shown quite uncomfortably. However, in the Swedish movie, Nils Jম্যানrmann is portrayed as a clever and intelligent character, whereas in the American version it is just the opposite. Here the character is presented as scared enough for his misdeeds. The scene of Lisbeth’s revenge by getting a tattoo on her chest is in the two movies, but the American version covers the scene of Jurman climbing the elevator together as a drop of salt on his cut.
Henrik_Vanger
In the Swedish version, the character is played by Van Bartil Tobe, while in the American version, the character is played by Christopher Plummer. In the Swedish version, the character is seen having a professional relationship with Mikael as well as a friendly relationship. In the American version, on the other hand, some of the mysterious events of Hanger’s character add some more sub-plots to the movie, which adds to the movie’s appeal.
Other_character
Other important characters in the story include Martin Vanger, Cecilia Vanger, Dirch Frode, Erica Burger, and more. In the Swedish version, these characters were played by Peter Heber, Marika Lagerkrantz, Inkvar Hirdwall and Lena Andre, respectively. In the American version, these characters were Stalin Scarsgard, Geraldine James, Steven Berkoff and Robin Wright. Although the basic premise of the story is correct, there are some discrepancies in the events and presentation of the characters in the two movies as there are some differences in their performance. Notable among these are the reminiscences of Harriet, the events of Michael’s daughter, the flashbacks of the characters’ past events, etc., where the characters have much in common.
Ending
There is a big difference in the ending of the two movies. In the American version, Lisbeth Calender feels quite relieved at the arrival of a new relationship in her antisocial life. He buys a Christmas present and sees Michael and Erica kissing on the street as he walks over to Michael. He threw the gift there and left. But in the Swedish version, Lisbeth deletes all the details of her account and goes to the Cayman Islands in the hope of a new life. Although the ending of the movie is good here, it does not match the breadth of the characters. While the ending of the American version was bad for Lisbeth, there was a kind of different perfection.
Visual_look
The visual look has a distinct and special significance in highlighting the dark sides of society or the dark aspects of human life in the story of the movie. The American director is quite accomplished from this side, which is reflected in some of the movies he has directed, such as: Seven, The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, The Social Network, Gone Girl. But according to most critics, the Swedish version of the negative look through the visual look has made the construction of the experienced David Fincher adapt to this time.
Music
In the Swedish version, Jacob Groth, who started his career as a rock musician, worked behind the scenes music and other music. But behind the music in the American version was the comparatively experienced Trent Razor Atticus Rosser Toom, who had previously worked in several of David Fincher’s movies. So from this point of view, the American version is the best.
Overall
Overall, the Swedish version did not receive as much response from viewers and critics as the Swedish version. One of the main reasons for this was the position of David Fincher as director in the production of the American version. David Fincher has previously gifted a number of masterpieces to viewers, which are still popular with viewers and critics today. Although the Swedish version is in complete harmony with the story of the book, the American version will always be ahead in terms of consideration and performance.
Ultimately:
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) >> The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009)
